Chapter 89: First day (2)
Annalise took a deep breath to prepare for what awaited her on the other side of the door. Her first day as Rafael’s maid was already off to a weird start, but it could get better from here once she got used to him. She was still curious if he thought she was an intruder earlier.
’I need to make noise next time,’ Annalise noted. Rafael would continue to be suspicious if she was light on her feet each time. She could not believe that the skill she had perfected would have to stop.
Annalise opened the bathroom door, hoping Rafael was wearing a shirt this time. She did not want to be constantly averting her gaze from him so pervert could become a nickname for her again.
Annalise exited the bathroom and left the door open for Rafael, who sat on his bed. He was looking out the window before she came out, but now that she was out, he turned his attention to her. "Your bath is ready. You should use it now while the water is warm. Is there anything else I can do for you?"
"Did Mavis tell you why you got this job? Why I suddenly decided to have a maid by my side?" Rafael asked. He wanted her to know from the start that Delilah was looking to do something to her, and that was why she had to stay close to him until he dealt with it.
"She mentioned Delilah being after me. Over the dress, or is there something else I do not know about?" Annalise asked since Delilah would have to be bored if she was going to plan something that had Rafael so worried that he had to take her as his maid.
Delilah wanted her dress, but she stopped her, and now it was time to get over what happened. Annalise had stopped thinking about it from that day until now. If she knew Delilah was going to be so angry, she would have just sent Laura back with no dress.
"It is about the dress and something more," Rafael answered.
"I see. Well, thank you for wanting to keep me safe," Annalise said. She wasn’t worried about what Delilah would try to do, but since she had other things to focus on, she would let Rafael take care of this. It was because of him that Delilah was acting as she did. That and the fact that Delilah was childish.
