Chapter 40: Caught (1)
Giselle sighed since Delilah was being difficult by not moving. "Do I honestly need to walk around you when you can simply move? You almost knocked me over when you came out so the least you could do is move. Or don’t tell me you don’t want me to meet with Rafael?"
"This is not the way to get his attention," Delilah softly spoke. Rafael was not a man who would be interested in Giselle coming around him with her bosom almost exposed.
"Then why are you so worried? You have your ways of capturing your husband and I have my ways. You cannot continue to be selfish by not letting other ladies have a bit of time with him. It seems to me that you are also wasting your time. You need to step aside and allow others to try their hand at getting him. You hardly have a chance with him. You are like a sister," Giselle pointed at Delilah. "A woman who he shall never lust. While I have a chance. Knowing him forever really hurt you."
Delilah grabbed a handful of her dress. Not only was Rafael calling her sister but now the other ladies might start doing it. She knew Giselle was just taunting her out of jealousy that she had always been close to Rafael when for a long time Giselle struggled to get near.
Delilah stepped to the give to give space for Giselle to walk by. "Go on. I am not worried about you. You were always the girl forgotten in the back while everyone else was admired. You needed to resort to showing off your body to get attention. You’ve unknowingly labelled yourself a woman that men would keep as a mistress and-"
"You!" Giselle exclaimed, her hand raised to slap Delilah, but she didn’t do it because her father would be angry with her for hitting someone with a background like Delilah’s. There was a distance between them when it came to wealth.
"And a woman they would never introduce as their wife to their parents. Regardless of how men lust after your body and whisper sweet words, they want a wife who is a lady. A lady who can act and dress with class. I am not worried about you catching Rafael’s attention. I worry if you shall ever have a ring on your finger and will be able to call yourself someone’s wife. Perhaps my words have been too harsh. There is still hope for you," Delilah smiled.
"I am sure there will be some man who will be able to hide that he is only after your body you flaunt around so much and place a ring on your finger so he could have you as much as he likes. Oh, but then you would have to fear when he grows tired of your body and finds a new woman to lust after. That is why you shouldn’t rely on just your body. Have a bit of personality for men to like you. I suggest you take down your hand," Delilah said, looking at the hand Giselle held in the air.
Giselle was in no position to try slapping her or pulling her hair. There were only a few women who could attempt it and get away with it. Now that Delilah was looking for a husband, a single scratch on her would have her mother ruining the life of the person who did it.
"Ha!" Giselle scoffed, taking down her hand. She ran her fingers through her dark hair to calm her anger. "That was a good attempt to rile me up, Delilah. You should not have said that, because now I will work twice as hard to take him from you. Let me tell you why I have a better chance of being his wife than you," she said, stepping forward to whisper. "I have warmed his bed before."
Delilah’s eyes widened upon hearing that Giselle had been intimate with Rafael. She stepped back, inspecting Giselle to see if she was lying, but she couldn’t tell. She would like to believe that Giselle was only doing this to tease her and had not ruined her purity just to get ahead of the other ladies.
