Chapter 72: In his warm arms

He let out a short snort of amusement before turning off the faucet, his large hand guiding me in and holding me close against his chest as we lowered into the hot water.
I closed my eyes and let out a sigh, feeling the stress and tension melt away as Elijah’s hands moved across my body. His fingers traced soothing paths through my hair as I tilted my head back, drinking in the warmth and comfort.
Sitting between Elijah’s legs in the deep, soapy depths of the bathtub, I felt completely at ease. His arms encircled me protectively, his touch was gentle and tender as his other caressed my shoulder with slow, deliberate strokes. It was a moment of pure contentment, one that I had always imagined but never thought possible.
His touch was like a medicine for my troubled mind, his fingers moving in languid patterns over my arms and chest. I leaned further against him, feeling the steady rhythm of his breath against my neck. The hot water enveloped me, cocooning me in its soothing embrace.
But despite the peaceful scene surrounding me, my thoughts were still tangled and conflicted. This was what I had yearned for—a deep connection, a sense of being cherished—but now that it was finally happening, it felt like the timing was all wrong.
A heavy sense of guilt weighed on me as I lay there, intertwined in his arms. Yes, it was my plan to use him just how he used me. But I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was taking advantage of his feelings towards me.
On one hand, I enjoyed the warmth of his body pressed against mine, the soft strokes of his hands as they roamed over my skin. But on the other hand, I couldn’t ignore the nagging guilt gnawing at me. How could I allow myself to be vulnerable and intimate with someone who had caused me so much pain, but now trying his best to make everything good.
He stroked my chest eliciting a soft sigh from my lips. For a brief moment, I let myself get lost in the pleasure, forgetting all my worries. But they soon crept back in, disrupting the blissful haze.
