Chapter 243: The Bold Request
Rory called Mrs. Delport to check on her grandmother. Her grandmother’s health was slowly deteriorating. There was nothing anyone could do.
Rory asked Mrs. Delport why nothing is done about the recent mishaps in the trial. She tried to call Gordon Faraday, but he didn’t answer. She didn’t want to call him again.
Mrs. Delport sighed. She then told her that it is to be expected in a trial that it might go either way. The law has to do what it has to do and each and everyone involved must be careful not to cause any distress to the system.
It was weird because Rory didn’t expect some diplomatic mumble from Mrs. Delport. And it made her doubt whether her calls are getting tapped.
That won’t be good.
She told Liam about it, and Liam had people sweep the house and phones for bugs. But they didn’t find anything, thankfully. That made her wonder if her grandmother is the one getting watched.
Rory talked to Mrs. Delport again. She didn’t talk about the possible spying. She knew that if there was spying, Mrs. Delport would know about it already and if she was keeping quiet there must be a reason for that.
Or, she might be entirely wrong and there was no spying.
Either way, she didn’t think that worrying about it would solve anything. She asked Mrs. Delport if she should visit there to check on her reaction. Mrs. Delport was usual when she refused her visit.
So, Rory decided not to stress about it. If Mrs. Delport is calm and collected, then she must have the situation under control.
