Chapter 233: At The Trial
They stayed in Liam’s house for a couple of days. It was all fun. Rory could see that they are pretty understanding of their move to her homeland. She was relieved.
Liam was relaxed this time around everyone. Rory could see the changes in Liam and was glad. She only wanted him to be on good terms with his family because they love him so much. It took a lot of suffering for him to finally see that, but he saw it.
As Mrs. Brown said they have a lot of life left. It’s better to change for the better rather than stay the same.
When they returned to the penthouse, Rory didn’t find it that awful maybe because she knew she doesn’t have to stay there for long.
Rory didn’t know what happened. But the trial that was set to be broadcast publicly was changed. Someone got a stay for broadcasting the trial because it was unfair to the victims. And so, the trial was not broadcast publicly.
Reporters were allowed in the courtroom, but no cameras or recording devices were permitted. The reporters are to record the trial in the old ways--on paper. The modern reporters who don’t know shorthand were not at all pleased. They complained that they won’t be able to get good access like that.
But their complaints were ignored, and they were invited to stay out of the courtroom if they don’t comply to the rules.
Of course, the media people were not happy about it and complained that the higher officials are trying to protect those with power who Lennon might name.
Rory did think that it might be one of the reasons. And she didn’t know if voicing her opinions on the trial to Gordon Faraday might have contributed to it.
Liam was not changing his opinion on testifying against Lennon. She didn’t want there to be pictures and videos on the internet of Liam and Lennon together after the truth was out. She also heard that Lennon was hoping that the trial would be broadcast live. She did not like that. She had an obligation to protect her baby from potential problems in the future.
Whatever the reason was, she was glad that the trial is not going to be broadcast in public. Lennon won’t get what he wanted. But she wanted Lennon to be humiliated in public too.
But that’s fine. There will be reporters outside the courthouse, and they will take enough pictures of Lennon in... whatever jumpsuit he was wearing.
