Chapter 206: Not On A Break
Rory held Ellie close to her chest and hugged her. Liam’s hand wrapped around her shoulder as she was waiting for her flight.
It’s been a couple of weeks after Liam suggested that she visits her homeland alone. And she decided to follow Liam’s advice. She didn’t like Liam’s penthouse and she couldn’t get used to the city atmosphere.
She went to visit her grandmother in their hometown. That place didn’t give much peace to her either. That place reeked of the memories and nightmares she tried to forget. Her grandmother was too far gone. She barely recognized her. The doctors told her that she won’t be with them for even six months and asked them to prepare their hearts.
Liam’s family has been moving forward with difficulties. It was a small town and Lennon’s deeds combined with all the drama had deterred them from approaching the Roberts family.
And in the cave where they found the dead bodies, remains of women who were long dead before Lennon even entered the country were there. And that only confirmed the beliefs of "Mad Roberts" being a serial killer, although there was no concrete evidence supporting that claim.
But they were happy to see Rory as always. And Claire was heavily pregnant. She didn’t have the chance to meet Derick, but Julia was so supportive of her.
Rory was happy she made that visit. But she didn’t have the will to stay there. She was not feeling comfortable there.
"It’s going to be okay," Liam rubbed her arm. "We were fine when you visited your grandmother. Weren’t we, Ellie?" he asked the baby.
The baby cooed with a bright smile.
"Yeah, I know..." Rory let out a sigh.
She asked Liam to care for Ellie for a week when she visited her grandmother to have a trial run on how he would handle it all during her visit to her homeland. And Liam did well. Well, he already had a trial run when she was not engaging with Ellie back when she was in the hospital, so there was little doubt regarding Liam’s experience in taking care of Ellie.
She was not planning on staying in her homeland for long. Two weeks or a month maximum, that’s it. It’s November and the end of autumn. So, it’s practically winter there. But she loved this time of the year back when she lived there.
