Chapter 152: Depend On Me More
"Now that Liam is not with you and I am here, depend on me more." Lennon patted her back.
Rory leaned on his chest. He was warm. She has many people around her who love her. And yet in this issue, she always felt alone. Lennon is the only one telling her what she wanted to hear the most.
"You will ask me if you need anything, right?" he asked, this time in a slightly authoritative tone.
"Yes, uncle. I will." She looked at him with a happy smile. And seeing her smile, Lennon’s face softened.
"Tomorrow, we can meet the District Attorney to get bail for Liam, alright?" he smiled.
Rory was frozen as she stared at Lennon.
His eyes... they are very... Were they this way always? How did I not see this till now?
She has never observed his eyes this closely. She stared at him for some time and then she realized that she is staring. She wetted her lips and stood up hearing Ellie’s moaning. Without Liam, she often moans at night. With a slight nod at Lennon, she walked to Ellie.
She slowly patted her, and Ellie fell asleep once more. Rory had a feeling that Ellie might run a fever. She didn’t know why, but she hoped Ellie didn’t catch something.
After comforting Ellie, Rory fell asleep. Or she pretended to. Lennon and Jake were still talking about their business. And after some time, there was silence.
Rory felt like something dark was fluttering over her lashes and she sensed someone breathing into her ear. But when she observed closely, she couldn’t smell anyone near her and all she heard was the loud sound of the engine of the aircraft.
And that creepy situation urged Rory to open her eyes, but she refused to give into that fear. She waited. Waited for the sound of the engine to stop so she can be on her way to meet Liam.
