Chapter 129: Truth Will Set Free
"I...left something here, and I came to pick it up," Rory lied.
She walked inside her grandmother’s office as she did not want others to hear her conversation.
Lying is the only way she knew to communicate with her family. Because they were so uncaring and because of her insecurities, she always tried to appear perfect. She did not want to lose her home.
And at times(after marriage), she would storm off when they touch a nerve. She always had Liam’s house to stay at. It has become a habit of hers. Although she knew it is wrong, she couldn’t help it.
"I don’t remember you taking the key. What is the key you are having?" Mrs. Delport questioned.
"It’s..." Rory let out a sigh. "How is grandma doing?" she changed the topic.
"She’s... you know. This stroke did a number on her... She’s awake but she’s not all..."
"Stay by her side and look after her, Mrs. Delport," Rory meant it. "I’ll visit her in the morning."
"It’s okay. Don’t get out of the house. Your grandmother dislikes being pictured by the media when she is at the lowest. You understand, right?" Mrs. Delport’s voice was apologetic.
A lump formed in Rory’s throat. She did want to say that she would be careful and not alert the media when she visits, but she couldn’t even say anything because she could read between the lines.
Her grandmother does not want to meet her!
She understood it. There is a horde of reporters in front of Liam’s family house; whenever someone gets near, they start to question them. She cannot move freely.
