Chapter 249: The State Dinner(2)
Tony and Marcella were surprised that they had changed the seating arrangement and pushed them forward to a more important position, but still, they were not in the top ten.
Marcella didn’t care. She observed everything around. Before the dinner there was a party with the top musician performing for the guests.
Everyone was fawning over the delegate and his wife. Marcella found it odd that the country sent five sets of delegates and although everyone’s designation was specified, one couple was there, just as someone, without any proper designation.
Marcella observed the wife of the delegate. She was in her mid-twenties or probably in her early twenties if she was being honest. By the blush on her face every time her husband looked at her, Marcella had a feeling that they were recently married. She looked like a fish out of water in the crowd.
She almost tripped in her gown and yelped loudly when someone’s shoulder accidentally grazed her back and dropped the glass in her hand. It was obvious that she was not used to being in big gatherings like this. Not to mention, she was in another country and spoke another language.
Her husband, however, was confident and had an aristocratic charm although he was in his 20s too.
Marcella’s lips curved seeing how often William tried to assure his wife Margaret understanding her insecurity. It reminded her of Tony.
At their age, she used to be so insecure and if she was thrown into such a situation, she would have acted the same way and Tony, the charmer, would have tried to support her the same.
Aww... How cute...
Others mostly ignored the couple since they weren’t as important as the other delegates.
Marcella, however, ignored everyone and everything else and talked to Margaret. Margaret was hesitant at first, but after Marcella introduced herself and led her out of the crowd, she opened up. Marcella admired herself for the motherly nature she had acquired by raising kids. It helped in situations like that.
Although Margaret was not very confident, she spoke good English. At first, she didn’t like to speak but as Marcella assured her, she became a lot chatty.
