Chapter 126: The Party
Tony patted her hand and kissed it.
"Tony, was it because I hit Mellon Paul gained an ally?" she asked.
Tony didn’t tell her anything about that afterward. She thought there would be some mediation between the enraged family and her side but nothing of that sort happened.
She thought that Tony might have dealt with it secretly but now she wondered if something else happened.
"I think his family..." Tony let out a deep breath. "I heard from a reliable source that he was adopted into the family and Randy told me that there was a rumor back then that one of Mellon’s sons adopted his sister’s bastard son. The patriarch didn’t want his daughter to raise a bastard and she was not willing to give him up and so they reached a compromise."
"Oh?" Marcella was shocked. "I remember reading an obituary of one of the Mellon daughters recently. She still had her maiden name. Is she, his mother?"
The Mellon patriarch had many children and lots of grandchildren. It was said that the patriarch was very religious. She could understand why the patriarch didn’t like Andrew all that much.
"Probably!" Tony shrugged. "It is said that the patriarch left Andrew Mellon from the will and Andrew is salty about that."
Marcella was quiet.
"What? Are you feeling bad for him?" Tony asked.
"Yeah... a little," Marcella sighed. "I know what it feels like to be disowned by family. It does not feel good."
Tony leaned and kissed her forehead. "What Don did was entirely different. He tried to protect you. And you have me. We are a family now."
