Chapter 115: The Truth
Marcella lunged at Mclaughlin. He was sitting there without moving.
Tony placed his hand on her shoulder. Marcella stopped immediately and went back to her seat. Tony came back to his seat.
The entire place went silent.
Tony took a cigar from his pocket and lit it. The sound of the fire catching on the matchstick reverberated in the container. Everything was that silent.
Tony at first didn’t realize why she thought that Mclaughlin was responsible for her sister’s death. But the last thing she mentioned was the island and he thought that she must have imagined that Mclaughlin killed Mellissa to gain access to the island through Marcella.
But Tony had a feeling that the truth must be different. Whatever Mellissa’s feelings were about loaning the island’s docks for the international gangs, Andrew would have made her agree to it.
To be honest, that is the wisest choice. They cannot go against all those gangs that are united. The best way moving forward would be to accept their request and make a deal that would be beneficial for them. Marcella would agree to it too. She got emotional thinking that the island played a role in her sister’s death.
Her sister’s death is indeed a sore spot; so is her father’s death.
Tony squeezed her hand. She cannot let her emotions control her. This is not a place where she can allow her emotions to rule. She should be solely rational here.
Marcella looked at him. The scent of the cigar whiffed around her, taking her back to her childhood days when she’d go to meetings like this with her father. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
I was wrong to lose my composure!
She had seen how her father kept on his poker face throughout the meeting and never relented unless he got what he wanted. He never bargained. He got what he wanted.
