Chapter 104: Her Future Plans
"Is this the tone you use on me, DeAngelo?" Mrs. Murphy asked. "You used to be a lot more polite in the past. Has the money got your manners; Not that you had any... You were worse than that dried fish anyway."
Marcella stood firmly and watched as Mrs. Murphy spouted out those vile words with a conceited scoff to finish it all up.
Dried fish? Is she calling my sister dried fish?
"Yes, the money got to my head. So what?" Marcella asked. "I can turn you into a sausage if I want to. All I have to do is say it."
Mrs. Murphy’s face paled. "Is this your manners?"
"Yeah, you were right always. I need to learn my manners. I cannot be late for work," she turned to leave.
"How is the little boy doing?" Mrs. Murphy asked. Her voice broke as she asked about little Joey.
Marcella wanted to walk away but then she didn’t want to do the same thing Mrs. Murphy did to her in the past. She knew how much it hurt to be not allowed to talk to the one you love.
Little Joey is Mrs. Murphy’s grandson. She helped raise him for a month and she would want to know about him. Maybe she was just happy, she didn’t want to put Mrs. Murphy through the same misery she put her through by not allowing her to talk to her sister.
"He is good. He’s gained some weight. He smiles a lot. He tries to grab things and~"
"You are so full of yourself, aren’t you?" Mrs. Murphy gritted her teeth. "It must feel so good to feel powerful by holding him back from me, huh?" Mrs. Murphy said.
The entrance to her building was crowded and Mrs. Murphy’s loud voice attracted the attention of some. Marcella recognized a few of her colleagues. She did not like the attention. But she didn’t want to let that woman go without telling her what she truly felt.
