Chapter 100: Undealt Feelings
"And the promise you made to my father too, I guess," Marcella sighed. She knew he would say that as a reason too. "But when you talk about it that way, it appears as if you were obsessively stalking me. Whatever, we are married now. Let’s leave the past in the past."
She didn’t want to water the doubts in her heart. Maybe if Tony avoided talking about their past she wouldn’t doubt him. She avoids talking about the past too. If they bury it somewhere, they don’t have to bring it up for any reason.
Yes, she dated another man. It was not like she was tied to him. She owes him no explanation. She was hurt a little as he brought up her relationship with Aiden.
It happened.
She regrets it happened, but it happened. She cannot change that.
Tony played with the food. Again, he said the wrong thing it seems. He dealt with his disappointments. He didn’t know why he talked about it. Maybe he was affected a little knowing that Louis Fletcher told her that she was his first love.
Nah, that was not it.
He was still blaming him for letting her go. If he didn’t let her go, she wouldn’t have suffered with Aiden. He would have treated her like a queen and she wouldn’t have lost her self-confidence and her ability to trust others.
It hurt seeing the doubt in her eyes. It broke his heart knowing that she is doubting him. It made his blood boil. He wanted to ruin something to quell his anger.
He had a little taste of her earlier. He saw the look of lust in her eyes. It made him happy but in the corner of his heart formed a bitterness knowing that he was not the only one who saw that in her eyes.
Aiden would have seen it too.
