Chapter 173: Meeting The Monster
"It is time, Glarald," Alexandra looked at him. "Blow the horns!"
The Queen was not happy about the call for war. Neither were the advisors to the King. They wanted to investigate the disappearance of the Orb. And they appeared to be happy that the Orb is no longer in their home.
Alexandra and Iorhael watched the advisors discussing among themselves. Theodus and Ailwyn were standing on both sides of King Glarald. Theodus’s eyes met with Alexandra’s for a moment before he looked away.
Alexandra was about to say that she only needs hundreds of the elite soldiers of the Uileag forest. She didn’t want the bloodshed to happen and the elvish soldiers are trained in deescalating tensions. And she wanted those soldiers who use magic well to control the darkness.
"Are you not going to listen to the Great Father?" Iorhael shouted before Alexandra could speak. "Such insolence! Are you the kinsmen I once knew?"
He was so mad Alexandra’s words are not taken as orders and followed as such without delay.
Alexandra stopped Iorhael from speaking further. The last time she broke their trust and she cannot expect them to obey her words this time just because she says she regrets the past. The damage she caused in the past is insurmountable.
She does not need to be treated with reverence. Not when the fate of the world is in balance. She just needed proper negotiations to get the help she wants.
"I’ll go where you want me to go, Alexandra," Theodus stepped forward. Alexandra was touched and shocked. She didn’t think that THeodus would be the first one to step forward to aid her.
"I am following you, father," Ailwyn joined his father.
Freda walked to Theodus and held his hand. The expression on her face shouted that she does not want Theodus to leave her. And not when the King is not agreeing to participate in the war. She got her husband after a long, and now she didn’t want to lose him again. And her son is willing to follow his father blindly. It made her anxious.
Theodus nodded and with a tender smile patted her hand. Freda relaxed. When her husband looks at her like this, she knows that he has thought this through.
