Chapter 103: For All To See
Alexandra stood stunned looking at the surface. Wispy was not moving. Had she held Flavia’s hand, Flavia might have regained her balance but Wispy did what she did best – freezing.
Alexandra watched Flavia flailing her arms to get a grip on one of the rocks and tried her best to swim back, but the current was too strong for her to do anything.
Rage filled Alexandra’s soul. She remembered all of her previous lives, and there are very few of the people she remembered who was kind to her for no reason. Flavia is one of them. And to watch Flavia getting sucked into the current of boiling-hot water when she could have helped, made her feel helpless and angry.
[Get back, you wench!]
She commanded Wispy. Her only aim was to save Flavia from sure death. Once Flavia reaches the middle of the river, she would be boiled to death. She didn’t look back at the chains binding her ankle. She just wanted to be at the surface to save Flavia.
And she was there before she knew it.
With a gasp, she looked to her front. The entire area was filled with commotions as Pricilla alerted Julius that Flavia is getting swept by a strong current into the river. Flavia was shouting for help and struggling the best she can as she got closer to the middle.
[I have to stop the current!]
That was the thought that came to Alexandra first. That would stop Flavia from getting dragged. She was sitting on a rock in knee-deep water. She could see from her peripheral vision that Julius is getting past the rock partition and running to get his wife. Maximus was behind him and he tried to stop Julius from stepping forward.
[Ah... I am bare naked!]
It was her towel that had washed away and right now she has nothing covering her modesty. But she was not in the mood to care about that. She kneeled in the water and pressed her hands on the gravel soil of the river.
She took in a deep breath and she could figure out the direction of the current. But it was very strong, a little uncharacteristically strong for a river that is not flash flooded.
