Chapter 34: Read To Know
Maximus found her little act very amusing as his lips curved to his signature smirk that Felixa is very much accustomed to. But she didn’t want to get laughed at and so she decided to speak first.
"How are you feeling now?" she asked, pointing at his crotch. "You were hurting bef~" her voice started to shake and she hunched her shoulders as he leaned much closer.
"Why don’t you check?" he breathed, his voice soft like the gush of water flowing through a crevice making her shiver pleasantly to her core. She desired for the warmth in his amber eyes to confiscate her coldness.
"He’s sick?" Flavia stood up and Felixa heard Flavia’s footsteps reaching them.
It only made Felixa’s heart race as if she is doing something that she shouldn’t be doing. She didn’t want to be "caught" by Flavia.
Maybe he saw her anxiousness, he stood straight.
"I am fine," he said, his eyes focusing on Felixa like a jaguar would focus on its prey. "You should get the guidance of Flavia and learn how you can help me if that happens again," he said rubbing the tip of his nose with the back of his hand.
"What ails you?" Flavia asked Maximus but he didn’t answer her.
"You can read what you want. Flavia will accompany you," Maximus told Felixa and she stood up out of reflex.
"Yes, Max," she nodded. She figured he might have something else to attend to.
"I shall meet you at Supper," he said holding her cheek and pressed his lips on her forehead.
"Yes," Felixa smiled.
