Yuanjun feeling a bit relieved that the biggest problem between them resolved, stepped on the gas. But realising that they are leaving the best neighbourhoods of thr city and going further away, he felt his heart clench.
"You are not living in the Gao house?" he asked.
"No... Some... I wanted to live alone," she said. She didn’t want him to know what Gao Lin did to her.
Yuanjun turned and looked at her. The passing yellow lamps made her skin gleam at regular intervals. Her red lips were pursed and tightly shut and she was sitting stiff with her fingers tightly interlocked and her hands were on her knees.
’She is lying... Or hiding something’
Yuanjun could guess but he didn’t want to press her. He can find out what she is hiding if he wants.
"Yes, living alone has a lot of perks," he said casually but his eyes were somber. He saw the area they are currently in is the poorest part of the city which is not very clean and safe. For her to live here, he knew it must be for to cut her living expenses.
His heart clenched remembering the life she lived in the past.
"Stop here... Your car won’t be able to go further inside. I’ll walk from here on," she tried to remove her seat belt and he stopped the car. She was surprised by his silence.
She stepped out from the car and waved her hand, " Thanks for the ride , Yuanjun. I’ll see you later"
She was surprised to see him getting out of the car and locking the car, he held out his hand.
"I’ll walk with you"
