Chapter 392: Immoral Request
Xing and Chenglei followed Prince Kang and Su Yunxi and after the arrival of Prince Kang and his Consort was announced, Chenglei was announced as Lord Li from Wind Kingdom, the official Envoy visiting here with his wife Lady Li.
Wow! Lady Li... It does have a nice ring to it! Xing was overjoyed. She looked at Chenglei to see his reaction and she feared if he’d correct the announcer but he didn’t and was looking straight ahead. He held her hands with his fingers interlocking hers as if affirming that she is his wife and Xing’s face bloomed with a smile adding to her allure.
The entire hall was neatly arranged with rows of short tables that would seat two persons and there were silk covered cushions on the carpeted floor to sit. They were seated in front of Prince Kang on the second row of the banquet Hall. Xing couldn’t understand the logic behind such arrangement and all the seats were facing the Emperor.
The entire hall was decorated in fiery colours and there was a big chandelier in the middle that seemed to be made of gold and was lit up with a lot of candles. There were torches all arranged around the walls of the hall and it served as a light source along with warming up the place that was cold due to the beginning of winter.
All in all that place looked resplendant and majestic showing off the wealth and prosperity of the Fire Kingdom.
But for Xing, the presence of so much of fire around her and the red colour all around spoiled her mood. Thankfully there were snacks and tea to go along with it and she picked up all the sweets and started eating it to lift her mood.
The Fire Emperor haven’t arrived yet and Xing looked around to see all the officials there with a woman by their side and Xing was surprised every woman there was... Not so good looking and old even.
Xing knew usually these kind of banquets are the places where those officials show off their wealth by the Silk they are wearing and the women they bring along. Usually they bring their youngest, prettiest concubines with them adorned with all the best jewellery.
If so, Why did these old men bring their wives with them? May be because this is a banquet Honouring a god?
As Xing was wondering, the Princes of the kingdom came one by one with their Consorts. It seemed like there were six princes and a crown prince and their consorts were all good looking but they tend to tone down their appearances too.
Only the younger Princess Consort was well dressed and they looked just married and adorable together and they couldn’t keep their hands off of each other and they acted that no one else around them existed. She was pregnant too.
Well, Xing didn’t mind a couple being intimate together. She wanted to be like that with Chenglei but seeing him with darkness circling in his eyes sipping tea, she went back to look around.
