Chapter 303: The Angry Emperor
Next morning, Chu Weiye entered the inner palace and she first came to meet the Empress as polite as she always showed her to be. Xing gave her some gifts and sent her to her courtyard which is one of the best they had in the inner palace.
That night she was informed that the Emperor did visit the Fengyi courtyard he stayed the entire night there which greatly lifted Xing’s mood. The next morning she even received news that they saw blood in the sheets from some of her maids. Honestly , Xing didn’t know how her maids gather all these news but she knew these are the ways most women uses to survive in the inner palace.
Xing was cheerfully getting ready to visit Chu Weiye and offer her congratulations that she is the first woman the Emperor has taken while all the maids were standing around her with their expression sullen with the exception of Bai Li. That’s when Xing remembered as per the entire inner palace the Emperor was not gracing other women because he loved the Empress so much and according to them she is the only woman the Emperor shares bed with thanks to the misunderstanding that stemmed from the bloodied cloth on that day she entered the palace and the fact that she was allowed to stay in his courtyard for days and he always brings her along where ever he goes.
Well, whatever! Who cares what others think! If he sleeps with her, it won’t be too long since there will be an heir....!
Xing was celebrating in her heart and even listing the gifts to be sent to Consort Chu. Thats when one of the maids ran to her, "His Majesty is arriving and he seems angry...", she said panting from all the running.
Xing wondered what that was about. Shouldn’t his mind be relaxed after his "actions" last night. So why is he angry?
She sent the maids out and the Emperor entered her room slamming the door open and seeing her standing there blissful, his anger only increased which perplexed Xing.
"You....", he grabbed her by the collar, "I never thought you would go this far", he shouted and Xing could see his entire face twitching in anger and he was gritting his teeth stopping himself from speaking further.
Okay! Why is he this angry? Xing wondered. She didn’t remember anything she did that might anger him and she didn’t remember him being this angry at her before... Wasn’t she just planning to send gifts to the woman he chose to sleep with? True, she forced him to visit her but isn’t he the one who stayed there? So what provoked him to this extent?
"Care to tell me the reason?", she asked holding his wrists and pulling it away from her. She didn’t like to be grabbed by the collar like that.
The Emperor looked at her eyes now changed colour to Amber after the recent war, looking at him in a questioning way and she didn’t look like she was hiding anything from him.
He retracted his hands from her hands and took a deep breath. She is always the same. She might come as selfish sometimes but she never crossed the line she drew for herself. From the day he met her with her entire face covered as Lord Táng, till this day she has never harmed him or tried to demean him in any way. She has only tried to exalt him and give credits to him in every way. So why did he think of her to do something awful like that?
