Chapter 136: The Allergy
Xing could feel the Emperor’s throat almost closing up. He could not speak either and his face started to get blue due to the lack of oxygen intake. She supported him to a chair nearby and went to her medicinal supplies cabinet.
After the death of her maid, Xing had stacked her room with medicines for all emergencies. Xing won’t be affected by poisons but those who are around her will. So it is better to be safe than sorry.
Xing picked up a strong antihistamine pill and stuffed it up the Emperor’s mouth and told him to swallow it no matter what and poured some hot water to wash it in. She only sighed in relief when he swallowed it.
The Emperor cannot die! For my sake!
There were many reasons for her thoughts. Xing knew if the Emperor dies, she as a Consort would be killed and buried with him not to mention she’ll be put to trial because the Emperor died in her courtyard. If she escapes that somehow and her father or Shengli saves her, Shengli will be made the next Emperor and she’ll have to spend the rest of her life in this place worse than an execution ground.
None of the scenarios she could think of worked in her favour and that’s why the Emperor must survive.
Xing waited by his side to watch him in case he gets worse. Xing wanted to call for a doctor immediately but the Emperor stopped her even though he could not speak well. Thankfully the pill worked and his throat got relaxed and he could breath a little freely and gradually his face retained his colour and the blueness in his lips reduced.
"Are you stupid? What if my medicine didn’t work? Why did you refuse to send for doctors? Heavens! You scared me! I’m not ready to die yet. Not here, not as your frigging Consort... You idiotic monarch... Putting me in trouble... Why didn’t you go and find that Shu woman... She’d have gotten help from the gods even.. Why did you even come here? To save her... ? ", Xing blabbered non stop and only relaxed after downing an entire jar of wine.
" You saved me to save yourself? ", The Emperor asked in a hoarse voice. He still could not speak well.
" Why else? I don’t want to get dragged with these drama.. ", Xing answered truthfully. She wasn’t ashamed of speaking the truth.
