Chapter 89: The Dark Sky
Shengli didn’t know how long he was staring blankly but Lin Mubai’s loud nagging voice brought him back,
"Big brother Wolf, you are here! I searched for you everywhere. You should have told me you’ll be here. See! I even brought you some tea", he gave him a bamboo flask and Shengli wordlessly got it from him when Lin Mubai continued,
"You should accept me as a page, big brother! See, you need my help always....", he continued on his rambling.
"I’m no Lord to have a page! And aren’t you too rich to be just a page?", Shengli cut him off with his usual cold voice.
"Aww! Big brother! How could you say that? What little I have is what you gave me. If you didn’t save my sister back then and took me in, I have no idea what might have happened to me...", he continued on rambling reminiscing the past .
That night their parents had sold off their daughter for their debts and the twelve year old him tried to save his sister from those men who tried to violate his sister right in their home and with their parents permission. But before he did anything, the Lone Wolf appeared there and killed all the men and saved his sister. His sister is now married with children living happily and he followed the lonely wolf. He always thought he owed his life to this big brother wolf.
Shengli who was in no mood to listen to his ramble, stood up to leave.
"Big brother Wolf! I know you are worried that sister-in-law would be angry with you, right? Sister-in-law didn’t get angry when you didn’t even meet her for years! So she won’t be that angry anymore just because you lost your temper a little! I know how to pacify women.. ", Shengli who was already starting to leave paused his steps hearing him say that knowing Mubai knew his way with women.
Seeing Shengli pause his steps made Mubai happy and he skipped to Shengli’s side,
" Women love money! ", he grinned and Shengli gave a burning glare at him and walked in fast paces trying to shrug off Mubai but he followed him.
" Big brother!" he sulked, "I know! Sister-in-law has a lot of money so she won’t like it. But gifts like jewellery and flowers are a sure shot. All women love it! ", Mubai was confident.
Shengli gave a dry glance at Mubai as he remembered how she looked at jewellery and swords. Swords would be better but judging by his colossal screw up, it is doubtful even the sword of Tianshi Emperor would pacify her.
