Chapter 92: Truth

I tried to hide my tremor when I knocked on Sloan’s door, but I think I failed because he frowned on opening the door and taking in my appearance.
"What’s wrong?" He asked as his dark eyes raked over me. Before I could respond, cause all that I planned to say on getting here had seemed like they had suddenly fled out my ears, I ended up just opening and closing my mouth. His eyes landed on my throat the next moment and he was tugging me into the room, closing the door after him then he peered down at me.
"Are you hurt?" He asked and I blinked slowly, staring up at him then taking in the worry in his eyes as he regarded me right now. How could people ask me to hurt this boy??
I ended up clearing my throat and shaking my head. "I think it’s just a scratch." I mumbled but he didn’t seem like he believed me. He led me towards the couch here in his room and pulled me atop me, making me feel very breathless as his arms came to settle around me, his dark eyes still setting my face as he stared at me.
"You smell very sad and distressed." He pointed out and I swallowed emptily, feeling extremely called out. In a way, I feel like I betrayed him by keeping the truth from him this whole time, that I knew that his butler wasn’t ti be trusted but I never said a word to him cause I was selfish. That made me feel super shitty and I suddenly hated myself.
"Whoa, your scent just got worse. Tell me what’s wrong, Kitten." He demanded, sounding more worried but I shook my head and tried to force a smile on as I stated at him.
"Nothing really happened, I promise."
"Where were you since morning?" He asked, his eyes narrowed a little , clearly still trying to figure out what’s wrong.
"Out running errands for the upcoming ball." I explained abc he hummed before nodding towards my bandaged throat.
