Chapter 82: Spy
Lilac
The next morning, a lot of guards arrived and they ordered that all the slaves get lined up. I was so nervous because they all looked furious as hell, and the only thing that comforted me was Jake’s presence. I had thought he’d be mad at me and not speak to me last night but he’s doing none of that, to my relief.
"Think they’re here to punish some people here?" I asked quietly and Jake shrugged. We were all arranged in a straight line and as the guards slowly walked past us, I created breathing till they were far away from me.
"I can’t really tell." He responded just as Iris, the head of the slaves here, standing in the front right now, began to speak. This was her first time showing up here and also her first time addressing us since I arrived here.
"Hello everyone, trust that you’re all doing well. Today, I’m here to announce that with the crow ball coming up soon, everyone are gonna be shared in groups cause it’s gonna be a busy week." She explained and I let out a sigh of relief,
If it was just that, fat was the use of all the guards?
"But before that, there’s a spy in here, and the person would be fished out right now," Iris continued and my heart hammers Shaina my ribs as I quickly glanced around just as everyone began to mumble. So the guards were indeed brought out here for a reason like I had initially thought.
"The spy had been stealing classified information and had been sending it over to their company. Whoever you are, come out before we have to fish you out ourselves." Iris continued in a stern and cold voice that had me flinching. I was very sure that I wasn’t the spy they were talking about, but it didn’t make me feel less nervous for some weird reasons.
Iris gave a signal to the man standing beside her as she spoke again. "Since you’ve refused to not come out in your own, we’ll have to fish you out ourselves and that way, you’ll get given a slow and painful death." After she spoke, everyone only fidgeted but no one dared to say a word.
After Iris stepped back, the man she gave a singnal to stepped forward, a folded paper in his grip.
