Chapter 38: New Developments

My heart instantly lurched with fright. This sick monster that almost raped me that night , but after discovering that I wasn’t a girl, he ordered for me to be beaten and then thrown into where the beast was being kept in.
The beast being his grandson, the crowned prince.
I hastily averted my gaze, but I knew it was too late because he had definitely recognized me. I had cut off my long hair, but it didn’t make much difference, my face was still the same after all.
As I walked down the hall, my heart was heavy with fear and I kept expecting him to call me back, but he didn’t. However, I noticed the moment recognition then shock crossed his face, and I just already knew that he’d send for me soon.
Fuck.
Could my life get any worse?
As I exited the Prince’s wing, the guards stationed outside still didn’t give me any problems and once again, I was awed. But as I walked towards the Slave quarters, I began to come up with an explanation that would sound believable enough because I didn’t think they’d have heard of the actual reason. I guess I could just tell them the truth, and that the prince refused to let me leave till this morning.
A long sigh escaped my lungs as my mind traveled back to the grand king. He was the last person I expected to run into, and I had honestly forgotten of his existence.
Running into him had been genuinely shocking and unexpected.
My chest was tight and my insides were curled tightly with nervousness when I arrived at the slave quarters. As soon as everyone noticed me, they instantly stopped what they were doing to swarm around me. My eyes widened and I grew extremely panicked while wondering if there was something I did wrong without realizing.
However, they all began to speak at once.
