All classes were in session. Ye Ling stopped under the poplar tree by the back door of her own classroom, planning to head to the school gate to wait for someone, not expecting to meet Si Daochen, who was collecting classmates’ exercise books from the office. Ye Ling happened to be standing by the back door, and when Si Daochen glanced in that direction from the hallway, he saw Ye Ling.
Both saw each other. Ye Ling didn’t want to talk to him, so she turned away to look towards the woods. Unexpectedly, Si Daochen’s footsteps drew closer, and even without turning, Ye Ling knew he had stopped behind her.
