Chapter 52 - 051: Accusation
As they entered the village, Wang Changjiang saw Zhang De’s wife still grabbing his own family’s old lady’s hair, and became utterly enraged, but he didn’t want to lose face in front of the villagers and be labeled as biased, so he turned his gaze toward Zhang De.
Zhang De, understanding the situation with one look at Wang Changjiang and another glance ahead, took a few quick steps to the front of Wang Changjiang and stood before his own old lady, saying, "What do you think you’re doing? Let go of her already; you’re too old to be making a scene."
While he was harshly scolding her, Zhang De didn’t dare lay a hand on his own wife, and seeing this, Wang Changjiang was so angered that his eyes were wide open. Zhang De was notoriously known in the village as a pushover, a man afraid of his wife. Wang Changjiang thought that in front of so many villagers, Zhang De would at least show some backbone, but seeing him in this pathetic state, it seemed he had overestimated him.
"Stop right now," Wang Changjiang could no longer hold back seeing his own wife being attacked, "it’s early in the morning, and no one is going to the fields, are you planning to forgo today’s work points? Everyone, go and do what you’re supposed to."
After all, as the captain, when he shouted, the crowd began to disperse and headed out of the village. Among them were some who were there to watch the spectacle, while others were genuinely trying to break up the fight, but it was unclear who was who. However, Wang Changjiang’s shout made them all scatter.
Zhang De’s wife wasn’t afraid of this, "Captain Wang, you came just in time. We might as well talk about this. My daughter Zhang Juanzi..."
"Enough, whatever you have to say, let’s talk at home. What is the point of this pulling and tugging right now?" As soon as she mentioned bringing up matters related to his son, Wang Changjiang hastily interrupted her, then directed Zhang De, "Take your wife home, as a man you can’t even control your own wife, how do you expect to hold your head high in the village?"
Zhang De, being shouted at by Wang Changjiang, turned red and blue, nodding repeatedly. He shouted at his own wife with a little more determination than before, "Get up, do you believe I’ll hit you if you keep this up?"
As he said this, he raised his hand in a threatening gesture, but his wife’s glare made him hesitant to actually act on it.
"I’ll settle the score with you when we get home," Wang Hua glared fiercely at her own husband, then turned with a cold sneer towards Wang Changjiang, "Captain, how is it that as a captain you’re inciting couples to fight? I, Wang Hua, am not unreasonable. Why would I grip your wife for no reason? How about you ask why? Or are you afraid of what I might say?"
