Chapter 45 - 044: Resentment
In the courtyard, after Ye Qian was carried home, she lay on the bed humming with her eyes closed. Bai Xue, anxious to go to the hospital, was stopped by Ye Qian, who refused with her eyes shut. It wasn’t until almost half an hour later that Ye Qian slowly calmed down and finally opened her eyes.
"Mom, I’m fine." Ye Qian said, her eyes red as she tried to sit up.
Bai Xue helped her up, "If you’re feeling uncomfortable, just lie down. It’s all your sister’s fault, otherwise, things wouldn’t have gotten so bad."
After propping a pillow behind her daughter, Bai Xue sat down, "Your dad went looking for them again. Let’s just hope he brings them back, otherwise, we can’t expect our days to get any better here."
Originally, due to the donation issue, her husband already felt ashamed. Now that such a thing happened at home, it would be strange if it didn’t involve their family.
Thinking of this, Bai Xue couldn’t help but regret. They should have delayed discussing this, first using something to entice Ye Ling to suggest not attending school. But now, they have angered Old Mrs. Ye.
"Mom, it’s all my fault." Ye Qian lowered her head, eyes full of blame.
She blamed Ye Ling more than her mother. How would outsiders see her with all this mess? Even if the family had to save money, it shouldn’t be at the expense of Ye Ling’s school fees. Besides, can Ye Ling even get into high school? If Ye Ling fails the entrance exam, then no one else would be to blame, and today’s mess wouldn’t have occurred.
"Silly child, it’s not your fault." Bai Xue wanted to blame the unwise one but didn’t want to taint her image in front of her younger daughter. She changed the subject instead, "Are you still feeling unwell? What happened just now?"
"It’s just a headache, it passed now." Ye Qian fiddled with her fingers, the guilt on her face not noticed.
