Chapter 28 - 027: Misunderstanding
After dinner, everyone moved outside, waiting for the arrival of the new year. The company had also prepared fireworks to celebrate. Zhao Guodong and the boys had already run out; there was no way they would miss the fireworks when they were set off.
They were all children of the company leaders, running around the company wildly without anyone stopping them. In past years, this was what Zhao Guodong looked forward to the most, but today when he saw Wang Ping squeezing to the front, he just stood there motionless.
Zhang Linong gave him a push, "Come on."
"I have something to take care of, I’ll be back in a bit," Zhao Guodong said and squeezed through the crowd.
Zhang Linong called out twice, but the person was already out of sight, so he had to squeeze through the crowd to follow. He saw Zhao Guodong heading towards the girls’ side, but in the factory area, there were people everywhere, so his voice was drowned out. Zhang Ningli did not call out, just chased after Zhao Guodong. However, he wasn’t in a hurry, walking leisurely with his hands in his pockets like he was on a stroll, carrying an air of laziness.
Zhang Ningli, although only in the third year of middle school, exuded a sense of laziness in his speech, actions, and demeanor. It seemed as if even if the sky were to fall, his face would never show urgency, always remaining peaceful and calm, almost unlike the silence expected at his age.
Zhao Guodong was heading towards Ye Ling. All the way to the company today, Ye Ling had already owed him three favors, but just after dinner, he hadn’t even risen from his seat when she already vanished. Having not received a single word from Ye Ling, Zhao Guodong felt more and more uncomfortable with each thought. He gritted his teeth and chased after, determined to confront that country bumpkin properly.
When he finally approached, Zhao Guodong found that it was Ye Qian. Initially realising it was the wrong person, he wanted to turn around and leave. But then he recalled hearing Song Mei talking about that country bumpkin earlier, so he stopped and turned back.
His sudden appearance startled Ye Qian and Song Mei, leaving them a bit baffled. Just as they were about to breathe with relief seeing him turn away, he stopped again, leaving the half-exhaled breath trapped in their chests.
"Zhao Guodong, what do you want? Chasing over to bully people? I’m telling you, don’t think I’m really afraid of you; we can make this a big deal and let your dad judge." Song Mei thought Zhao Guodong came to seek revenge.
