13-83. A Long Time Coming
Elijah’s heart beat out of his chest as he floated amidst the gore of the previous battle. He knew he couldn’t stay where he was for much longer – not without becoming embroiled in another battle – so he swam toward the surface. Bursting through the waves like a humpback whale, he shifted into the Shape of the Sky and flapped his wings to gain altitude. Once he was free of the mountainous peaks of the sea, he reoriented himself toward land and used Lightning Rush.
A few seconds later, he was more than a thousand miles away and still coasting off his previous speed. After that, it wasn’t long before he passed the cliffs ringing his continent. He didn’t stop until he was a few hundred miles inland and safe from any distractions. Only then did he land and hastily wash the battle’s gore from his body.
Once that was done, he dipped into his recently deployed tent and, at last, allowed himself to acknowledge the notification he’d been waiting on for what felt like an eternity.
