Chapter 21: Who carried me?
I glanced around my dimly lit room with drawn curtains but I could still see the sharp rays of light seeping through the corners of the curtain.
The temperature in the room was warm, and I was under a blanket, so I definitely wouldn't catch a cold from spending all night at the library.
"Hah!" I sighed while brushing my fingers through my hair.
So much for shutting my eyes for a few minutes. It was almost noon and I yawned. I looked like I would need to sleep some more.
I was trying to gain weight, after all. But with an unfinished book next to me, how was I supposed to sleep?
I flipped the page of the book that had been left on my lamp stand, planning to continue from where I stopped when a light memory slowly came to me.
I think it was about the person who carried me. Their touch was warm and their caress on my cheek was gentle. They gazed at me with a hint of regret lingering in the air as they lifted me from my chair and into their arms.
They carried me gently as though I had been a sleeping princess bewitched by a fairy into a never-waking sleep.
It was so warm and gentle that I couldn't bring myself to open my eyes and simply sunk into their embrace, falling deeper into slumber.
Maybe it was because I was bewitched by sleep, but I should know better than to leave my back bare in this place filled with animals who want to rip me apart.
And yet... I felt no sense of danger in the arms of this person. In fact, I felt at ease. Comforted more than ever and warm.
