Chapter 10: The doctors told me my brain took a lot of damage
Jo-Pil did have an accident five years ago and it left him in a coma for two months. The back of his head had been operated on twice to save him from danger but after he woke up, his memories were all mixed up.
He thought his mother, who had died ten years ago while he was still young was alive and looked everywhere for her. His father, who had been working under one of the four great families, had also passed away during the accident, but his memory was that his father had passed away when he was young, and the one who had been taking care of him was his mother.
His mind was in chaos.
To top it up, he received a notice for loans that he had never once taken. His elder brother took loans in Jo-Pil's name with the guise of paying for his medical bills but what he took was ten times what was covered for the medical bills.
He ran away with the money, leaving his younger brother, who had just come back from the hospital, to pay off those loans.
It was a nightmare.
Just where was he going to find a billion won that had a high interest rate of more than a million a month? His brother had taken money from different loan sharks which amounted to that one billion won.
Even if Jo-Pil worked from that point till his afterlife, he wouldn't be able to pay off the principal or the interest, so he decided to just run.
But no matter where he ran, they always found a way to track him. On top of the confusion of his messed up memories, he needed to find a way to survive.
Along the line, he discovered both his parents were dead, putting him into despair. He didn't have a reason to live anymore but for some reason, he couldn't die either.
He couldn't remember clearly but there was something he needed to do. Something that collided with the time of the accident. It was so important that it was stopping him from taking his own life.
