Chapter 866 And The Champion Is...
But after only a few steps, the female staff paused and turned back, realizing he had given her too much money.
"This is too much..." she said, trying to return the extra bills by pressing them back into Xavier’s hand.
Xavier stepped back with a light smile, avoiding her hand. He had no intention of taking the money back—he didn’t like owing anyone favors.
He would have gone to the flower shop himself if he could, but he didn’t want to miss seeing Hera receive her award. Since the shop was just a few meters from the venue, asking someone to pick it up for him wasn’t too much trouble.
"No, think of it as a thank-you for the favor," Xavier said sincerely, his eyes fixed on the screen showing the stage. "I can’t leave—I don’t want to miss my girlfriend’s big moment."
The female staff’s heart melted a little. Hearing Xavier openly call the girl he had cradled so tenderly earlier his girlfriend made her feel like she’d just tasted something sweet. He was thoughtful, charming, and clearly smitten—and that made her quietly root for both of them even more.
Still hesitant about accepting the extra money, she opened her mouth to protest again, but Xavier added with a warm smile, "Really, don’t overthink it. Get yourselves some gelato or something. And if my girlfriend wins an award, you can treat it as my celebration treat for everyone."
His smile had a calming, genuine quality, and the staff finally nodded, convinced. After all, she’d seen the spark in Hera—her poise, her strength. With everything that had happened earlier, Hera had left a strong impression: confident, capable, and charismatic. In that moment, she truly looked like a queen standing proudly in her court.
Hearing his words, the staff nodded with a wide grin. Who wouldn’t feel happy seeing such a thoughtful boyfriend doing everything he could to make his girlfriend’s day more special and memorable? For some reason, Xavier’s sincerity moved her, and she suddenly felt a strong urge to help. Clutching the few thousand euros in her hand, she ran off, forgetting for a moment that she was still holding the cash.
