Chapter 803 Would You Participate?
After an hour of nonstop assessments and comings and goings, the doctors and nurses finally left Leo’s ICU room to check on others, like Terry and the rest.
It was only once the chaos had settled that Zhane noticed something odd: more of the veteran soldiers were stationed in almost every corner of the entire floor.
Aside from Leo and his group, no one else was allowed on this level. The heavy presence of medical staff made it clear that Leo and the others were being treated as VIP patients, receiving the highest priority and respect.
Zhane couldn’t help but sneak a glance at Hera, who was silently staring at the ICU’s glass wall. From their position, they couldn’t see Leo lying in the bed—only the various machines surrounding him and the sterile white walls.
Hera seemed lost in thought, her mind clearly racing with countless worries. Zhane knew he couldn’t stop her from overthinking, but he could offer her comfort in the form of his presence.
He tightened his arm around her waist, a silent reassurance that he was there with her. The faintest tug at the corner of Hera’s lips hinted at a smile before she sank back into her thoughts.
The two of them sat there in silence for a long while, the quiet between them carrying a sense of peaceful understanding. Eventually, Zhane stood up, gently taking Hera’s hands in his.
"Come on, it’s well past lunchtime," he said with a playful tone. "You can’t forget to take care of yourself, even when you’re worried. Otherwise, you won’t have the energy to worry later."
Hera glanced up at him, her gaze meeting his serious expression. Her shoulders slumped in a sigh of defeat. She knew Zhane was concerned about her health, and she understood that this moment of care was out of genuine worry for her well-being.
