Chapter 724 Hera’s Drugged
The very same wine that Luke and the rest had refused to drink. They had sensed something was off and avoided it entirely, but Hera and Athena had unknowingly consumed it. At the time, they seemed fine, so no one thought much of it. But now... now the drug was kicking in.
Luke’s heart pounded as he turned back to Hera, his grip tightening ever so slightly. Whoever was behind this—he was going to find them. And they were going to pay.
"Luke... I feel uncomfortable," Hera whispered, her voice barely audible. Her fluttering lashes and the shimmer of unshed tears at the corners of her eyes made her look even more vulnerable.
"It’s so hot..." she murmured, shifting slightly as if trying to escape the unbearable heat consuming her from within. Despite the turmoil in her body, she still tried to maintain her composure, pretending that nothing was wrong.
But Luke saw right through her.
The way she trembled, the way she looked up at him—like a helpless kitten seeking comfort—made something in his chest tighten. His jaw clenched as a wave of protectiveness surged through him. Whoever did this to her would regret it.
"Hera, are you tired?" Luke asked loudly, ensuring that those around them could hear. Without waiting for her response, he quickly added, "Alright, let’s get you some rest."
Without hesitation, he began guiding Hera away from the dance floor. His firm but gentle hold made it seem as though he was simply escorting a tired partner, not someone struggling against the effects of a drug.
Zen, noticing Luke’s actions, immediately followed suit. He placed a steadying hand on Athena, subtly leading her away as well. Athena was beginning to act more clingy, her touches lingering a little too much for comfort.
