"Alright, I won’t," Hera giggled, throwing a playful wink over her shoulder as she leaned back slightly, just enough for Dave to catch her mischievous expression.
Being tall, Dave had no trouble seeing her every expression as he looked down on her, and his eyes lit up with joy, curving into crescents as a broad smile spread across his face.
"Don’t worry, sweetheart, I know you’re just playing," Dave said with a chuckle, gently ruffling Hera’s hair. "But these jerks aren’t getting off the hook—I know they meant every word." His gaze shifted into a sharp glare aimed at the men around him.
"It’s not like we’re denying it," Xavier quipped, delivering the final blow with a smirk. "Of course, we meant every word exactly as it was said."
"Hmph! Just wait and see—I’ll rise above all of you," Dave declared with a challenging smirk. As if on cue, his assistant arrived just as they stopped in front of the hospital, providing him with the perfect exit strategy.
With an exaggerated flourish, Dave pointed dramatically ahead. "I shall return!" he proclaimed, his animated expression drawing hearty laughter from the remaining four.
Before departing, he shot Hera a smug wink, leaving her chuckling as he strutted off with unmistakable flair.
After Dave departed, Leo escorted Hera to Luke’s car.
Without hesitation, he leaned in and kissed her passionately, utterly unfazed by the presence of others.
Neither Xavier nor Luke protested, respecting the moment. Only after watching them drive away did Leo turn back toward his own car to continue his business.
