Luke didn’t even acknowledge Xavier, his focus solely on Hera as he lifted her effortlessly, cradling her like a child.
Surprised, Hera instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck and straddled his waist.
She cupped his face gently, her eyes searching his tired expression. "You didn’t sleep?" she asked softly, concern flickering in her gaze.
Luke smiled softly as he carried Hera over to the couch, gently lowering her down to sit.
Once she was comfortably settled, he sank to the floor in front of her, pulling her waist into a tight embrace.
Without saying a word, he buried his head against her stomach, his exhaustion evident.
Within moments, the weight of the night took its toll, and he drifted off to sleep in her arms, his body relaxing completely in the warmth of her presence.
Hera and Xavier exchanged a glance, and Xavier gave a casual shrug.
They tried to shift Luke, but he was unmoving—like a boulder rooted to the floor.
Realizing their efforts were futile, Xavier stopped trying. Instead, they settled into the living room and started a movie.
Despite the loud sounds blaring from the TV, Luke remained asleep, unfazed. Xavier wasn’t feeling particularly kind, given that Luke had interrupted their date, but he soon let it go.
