"Alright, alright, this is your reward for your contribution to the investigation," Hera said with a playful tone as she pushed the plate of shrimp in front of Gerald, treating him as if he were a child in need of comfort. It was only after her words that Luke and Rafael snapped out of their reverie, realizing with a smile that Hera’s care extended to all of them.
When Luke and Rafael saw Hera push the plate of shrimp towards Gerald, they felt as if they were all being treated the same, like children being coaxed. Luke bit his lower lip in slight frustration, while Rafael glared at Gerald, who was happily chomping down on the shrimp Hera had given him.
Rafael shot an accusing glance at Hera, which only made her want to laugh again. To her, it seemed like they were just children vying for their mother’s attention and affection. "I thought you weren’t interested in the shrimp anyway," Hera explained with a playful tone. "So, I gave the remaining ones to Gerald, who actually contributed to the issue you’re facing. It’s my way of helping you thank him." Her tone was as if she were soothing a child to prevent jealousy.
Gerald was indifferent to the reasoning behind the gesture. All that mattered to him was enjoying the shrimp peeled personally by his Young Miss. He viewed it as a well-deserved reward for his efforts and paid no mind to any potential jealousy or envy from his future bosses. To him, being directly served by his Young Miss and receiving this reward was all that counted, and he felt entitled to it and urged him to do better in the future.
Gerald glanced up with a smug grin, meeting Rafael’s narrowed eyes, before turning his attention back to devouring the shrimp.
"I love the shrimp," both Luke and Rafael said in unison. Luke continued with a genuine, warm smile, "You peeled it for me, so I wanted to admire it for a bit before savoring it." His smile was heartfelt, revealing his true feelings rather than just a facade.
Hera then urges them to continue eating as she also takes her own utensils to continue eating, Rafael and Luke also stop staring at the shrimp and eat it, as if afraid that someone would steal them away from them. Hera find them so amusing and this side of them a breath of fresh air so the whole meal, she was smiling like a graceful willow swaying elegantly along the wind while giving comfort to the people sitting nearby.
The atmosphere of the meal transformed into one of harmony as if the earlier discussion of dread and danger had never taken place. The conversation shifted to their hobbies and interests. And since Luke and Rafael were both well-versed in business and finance, a field that Hera was currently studying in college.
