Chapter 313 What to Do?
Hera couldn’t deny what he said. If she truly put it into words, it would indeed seem that way if she got together with the male leads, including Leo. However, openly discussing it made her feel embarrassed, so she refrained from speaking. Gerald quickly noticed her discomfort and didn’t press further. Her reaction was enough to confirm his suspicions, so he continued.
"What I am trying to say is that, since we have such thoughts, it would be best to test Rafael’s moral compass. I suggest we inform him about what is going on with his sister. He probably wants to help clear her name and assist us in finding more evidence. However, it could also lead him to hide his sister and help her flee the country to avoid authorities."
"By doing that, we’ll see his true stance and know if he can genuinely uphold the integrity needed to be a father and role model for the future heirs of the Avery Consortium," Gerald said. He had already planned far ahead, thinking about the future heirs and heiresses, which made Hera choke on the tea she was sipping to calm her nerves, only to get worked up by Gerald’s words.
Hera was at a loss for words, her face darkening. She couldn’t find the right words to express what she was feeling or what she wanted to say. If she truly embraced the role of the female lead, their future might indeed unfold as Gerald was suggesting. As much as she wanted to argue, she couldn’t deny that his words were right.
Hera took a deep breath, trying to steer the conversation in a different direction. "So, you want Rafael to make a choice and reveal where his loyalty lies? But wouldn’t it obviously lie with his family since Minerva is still his sister?" she added seriously.
"Technically, yes," Gerald responded, "but if he’s seriously thinking of pursuing our Young Miss, wouldn’t that make you his future wife and family member? We need to know if he’s worth trusting. After all, letting a viper into our home would be disastrous, wouldn’t it?" Gerald carefully chose his words, ensuring Hera understood his intentions and the gravity of the situation.
"You do have a point," Hera acknowledged. "If we hand Minerva over to the police and it turns out she’s really behind those crimes, that would be a thorn in Rafael’s heart. It could consume him until he turns against me. How long it takes for him to turn could vary—it might be instant, or it could take years, depending on how he processes what happened. Most devastatingly, if he became part of the family only to wreak havoc from the inside, it would surely bring my family down."
Hera’s analysis confirmed Gerald’s suspicions about her relationship with Rafael and the others, revealing her true intentions.
Hera didn’t realize she had fallen into Gerald’s trap, inadvertently spilling the beans and clarifying everything. Gerald stifled his laughter, and by the time Hera realized what had happened, it was already too late.
