Chapter 306 Her True Goal
"Senior," Logan croaked, his voice barely above a whisper as he looked up at Hera, his face flushed and tear-streaked. Covered in sweat, his shirt clung to his body, outlining his lean physique. The sight was almost surreal like seeing a real siren in the flesh, alluring and very sensual, and for a moment, Hera felt her cheeks flush, a vivid reaction to the unexpected display.
But more than anything, Hera was startled by Logan’s appearance. Her first thought was that he was being bullied. Instinctively, like a protective mother hen, her blood began to boil with anger at the thought of him being hurt.
"What happened to you? Did someone bully you?" Hera asked, her brows furrowing with concern as she searched Logan’s face for answers. When he shook his head and continued to cry, their scene began to attract more students, who started whispering and gossiping about Hera even more.
Earlier, Hera had her face buried in a book, making it difficult for others to see her expression. Her location was only discovered because Alice’s two cronies leaked it on the campus forum, prompting everyone to converge on her and hurl insults.
As Hera set down the book that had been shielding her face, her effortless beauty became evident to everyone. Without any makeup, her skin appeared supple and glowing, with minimal pores and a clean, fair complexion. Her cheeks had a healthy, rosy tint, and her lips were naturally cherry-red, needing no additional lipstick.
She looked so different from the picture that had been circulated that the students instantly forgot the insults they were about to hurl. Instead, they stood there, captivated by her appearance. Hera, having removed her headset and placed it in its case, repeated her question to Logan with concern: "What happened to you? Has anyone bullied you?"
Seeing Hera unaffected and calm helped Logan regain some composure, though his tears continued to flow uncontrollably. Through his gasps, he managed to say, "I was worried about you, Senior."
Hera gracefully stood up and then crouched beside Logan, being mindful of her skirt to maintain a ladylike posture. Gently rubbing his back, she spoke with the soothing warmth of an older sister comforting her younger brother. "It’s alright, I’m okay. Please, tell me what’s wrong?"
The onlookers watched Logan and Hera’s exchange in stunned silence, captivated as if they were witnessing a live drama unfold. They were so engrossed in the scene that it felt like a VIP experience as if they were watching a compelling show with front-row seats. If only there were popcorn and soda, the moment would have been even more perfect.
"I wasn’t the one being bullied; it was you," Logan managed to choke out between sobs. The more Hera showed her gentleness, the more tears flowed from his eyes. He was overwhelmed by a mix of sadness, anger, hatred, and frustration. He felt sorrow for the kind woman who had helped him, now being slandered once more before the first scandal had even been resolved. At the same time, he was seething with anger and hatred towards those targeting Hera again.
