Chapter 289 The Desperate Alexi
Because she didn’t mingle with her classmates, most of the girls in her class saw her as snobbish and disliked her, believing she was just a pretty face with a powerful backer helping her rise like a phoenix. Jealousy ran in some of the women’s blood due to Hera’s likeability among the men, who appreciated a hardworking beauty with brains.
Most still belittled her and didn’t think highly of her due to the scandal that portrayed her private life as wretched. Some even assumed that she was in a hurry to leave to manage her sugar daddies’ schedules and cater to all of them.
Hera noticed their judgmental eyes but her schedule was packed, and she had better things to do than argue with them. If they didn’t like her, she wouldn’t lower herself to become likable to everyone. As Athena always said, ’You can’t make everyone like you. Even if there are hundreds of reasons to like you, bitter people will find thousands of reasons not to.’
After reminding herself and clearing her mind of unnecessary thoughts, Hera’s class ended at 5 PM. Most students were heading back to their dorms, the library, or just passing time before their evening classes began.
But Hera was in a hurry to leave the university campus to meet her acting tutor. She was a little excited and full of anticipation about how things would go, hoping she could at least meet the minimum expectations in her acting lessons.
Although she loved acting, she didn’t want to become complacent or think too highly of herself just because she could act. She couldn’t even tell if her level of acting was comparable to B-listers, or maybe she simply didn’t want to be arrogant.
Hera strode to the parking lot to get her car when suddenly, the book in her arms fell to the floor. She had been yanked around to face the person behind her. Surprise was an understatement; Hera was shocked. She had been so focused on her thoughts that she hadn’t noticed someone stalking her.
Hera was caught by surprise when she was suddenly yanked around to face the person standing behind her. The abrupt movement made her feel a little dizzy, and she didn’t notice the crowd that had gathered, with some even recording the scene.
It took her a moment to steady herself. Her arm was gripped tightly and raised to shoulder level, causing her discomfort. She followed the hand gripping her arm up to its owner.
Sure enough, no one besides Alexi would be so arrogant as to act like she owed them the world. He glared at her with daggers, his heaving breaths causing his nostrils to flare like a bull’s. In the past, this might have intimidated Hera into fearing she had done something wrong and jeopardized her role in the storyline.
Now, however, things were different. Hera raised an eyebrow as she looked at Alexi. She didn’t need to say anything to express her displeasure or to silently demand an explanation for his treatment of her.
Moreover, when Alexi saw Hera’s beautiful face contorted in displeasure, as though his touch was something repulsive to endure, he felt a surge of anger welling up inside him. He couldn’t bear being treated like he was nothing by Hera; the sting in his heart was palpable. He wanted to shout at her, but he also knew it would accomplish nothing.
