Chapter 281 You Have To Pay 100 Million
Logan watched from the corner as Hera conversed happily with Lucas. Like anyone else he had met before, they always preferred Lucas over him, always believed Lucas over him. Once they met Lucas, they would forget about Logan and treat him like an unwanted child.
Logan’s eyes turned red with emotion as he turned around to leave. Hera felt an intense gaze directed at her and subconsciously followed it to see Logan walking away. He wasn’t heading back to where he came from; it seemed like he just wanted to get out of there.
Hera felt a twinge in her heart, realizing instantly that Logan must have overheard their conversation and seen her reactions. She paled, quickly opening her car door to chase after him, but Lucas grabbed her hand to stop her.
"Senior, you have to give him some time to process everything," Lucas said, shaking his head with resignation. He looked tired and saddened, his lips pursed and eyes turning red.
Hera sighed in frustration before gently pulling her hand free from Lucas’s grasp. "Sorry, Lucas. I have to go. He’s my junior now, and if my manager finds out I ignored him, it could make things difficult for me. I hope you understand," she explained, offering the response she thought Lucas wanted to hear. Lucas let go immediately, giving her a sympathetic smile and encouraging her to go after Logan.
Hera wasn’t sure if Lucas was genuinely against Logan, but from her observations, she sensed a deep-seated tension between them. It wasn’t just rivalry; it bordered on antagonism. Since she didn’t understand the root cause, she couldn’t simply insert herself to resolve Logan’s issues, tempting as it was. Logan needed to learn to confront and handle his own challenges; otherwise, he’d never develop the strength to stand on his own.
So for now, Hera decided not to sever ties with Lucas. He seemed to have his own agenda—whether it was using her or genuinely wanting to get close to her for some reason. Hera understood this could either be an opportunity to gain leverage with Minerva or Alice, or it could be a trap. But for the moment, she pushed aside these thoughts and focused on what was immediate and important: she left to chase after Logan.
She didn’t even have the chance to see Lucas’ expression as she dashed after Logan. Hera spent a full five minutes closing the distance because of his long legs and brisk pace, making it a challenge for her to catch up even while running.
But Logan seemed determined to get away. Hera gripped his arm tightly, unwilling to let go, but Logan remained stubborn, refusing to stop or even look at her.
