The Return of the Cannon Fodder Trillion Heiress

Chapter 275 Do You Need Help?

Dave’s cheekiness only made the old man more frustrated and exasperated. He couldn’t berate Hera or Dave since they hadn’t done anything wrong, but at the same time, he didn’t want to give up on Dave. Coming from a powerful political family, Dave could offer riches, influence, and valuable connections for his granddaughter and himself.

He couldn’t help but be greedy, but he didn’t want to push too much or risk losing any chance altogether. So, he was torn.

"Sir, we welcome you to our country and hope you’re enjoying your stay so far. Let us tour you around when we have time," Hera sweetly offered the Korean dignitary. At the same time, she subtly pushed him away, hinting that he shouldn’t force spending time with Dave if it is making him uncomfortable.

Sure, it was Dave’s and the other politicians’ duty to ensure the dignitary’s stay was pleasant. However, since the Korean dignitary’s visit was unofficial and secret, they had the option to delegate the role of tour guide to someone else. This way, his visit could be treated as private time.

Getting Hera’s subtle hint, the old man felt humiliated in front of everyone. He wanted to explode in anger but had to restrain himself. After all, he was not in his own country and was dealing with a young woman. He had to uphold his reputation and feared that quarreling with her would only tarnish his image and become the subject of gossip.

So, he stared at Hera for a moment, his lips twitching as he struggled to maintain his smile. After exchanging a few more courteous words with Dave, he strode away without looking back.

As he left, he made a mental note of Hera and the way she had humiliated him in front of Dave, whom he now considered his future grandson-in-law.

Hera’s group watched as the dignitary’s group left the restaurant in a huff. As soon as the old man was out of sight, Dave rejoiced. "My goodness, sweetheart! You are the best!" Dave looked at Hera with sparkling eyes.

Though Hera had handled the situation with apparent ease, it wasn’t as simple as it seemed. She had just offended the dignitary, which could have significant repercussions. Dave knew he couldn’t have managed it as gracefully as she did. He felt touched by her support and simultaneously worried for her.

If he could have dealt with the dignitary like that, he would have done it earlier and wouldn’t have had to suffer and run around trying to avoid the old man. Unfortunately, even though he wasn’t responsible for welcoming the dignitary during his private vacation, he still had to show some respect. The most he could do was subtly hint, as he did earlier, that he already had a girlfriend. This was his way of signaling the old man to stop pushing his granddaughter onto him because it was becoming bothersome.

Now that Hera had offended the dignitary on his behalf, he felt a stronger determination to resolve the situation for her. This incident also bolstered his belief in his decision to pursue Hera romantically. His grandfather often emphasized that successful politicians are supported by wives who are intelligent and adept at acting in their husband’s best interest or seizing opportunities. He believed that with a bit of guidance, Hera would understand this and be ready to stand by his side in the near future.
