The Return of the Cannon Fodder Trillion Heiress

Chapter 229 Athena and Hera’s Anger

So now that Hera was in front of her, well and healthy, Athena instantly relaxed, and seeing Hera being so close to the male leads even the men giving Hera a peck before leaving made Athena forget her earlier worries and instantly jumped in on the gossip but only to find out that she nearly got drugged.

She was not just caught off guard; she was left completely in the dark. Now, she was furious. Hera summarized what had occurred in her private room, detailing her and Leo’s hospitalization, which prompted Zhane to investigate and ultimately led to the report she had just received.

As she recalled Leo’s promise to buy them fruit, Hera couldn’t help but feel incredulous. "How could he go out when he was still hooked up to an IV drip?" The mixture of concern and admiration for his thoughtfulness stirred within her. However, she quickly refocused her thoughts. "Wait, let’s get back to the topic at hand. My mind is wandering." Hera then composed herself and resumed narrating the events to Athena.

"That jerkface!" Athena roared indignantly upon learning she nearly fell victim to the man’s scheme, inadvertently hurting her best friend and even Leo, who had suffered greatly. While Hera shared most of the information with Athena, she tactfully omitted the details of what happened between her and Leo in the private room. She knew Athena well enough to anticipate the endless teasing she’d receive if Athena found out. Hera couldn’t bear the thought of facing Athena’s playful mockery, especially in front of Leo and the entire male lead squad.

Hera cleared her throat, determined to steer her thoughts away from the intimate scenes with Leo. Once refocused, she spoke, her voice calm but laced with anger. "Why don’t we take action against that man for trying to drug you?" Her aura betrayed her simmering rage. "I initially thought it was part of the storyline, that Dave was supposed to be drugged. It wasn’t until I learned it was connected to you that I realized the true target." Hera shared her thoughts with Athena, only to be met with the latter’s shocked exclamation.

Athena’s eyes widened as if she suddenly recollected something. "Right! Before leaving the university, I recall having something to say about Dave, but it slipped my mind. Now that you’ve mentioned the drugging incident and your theory about it, it’s all come back to me. I was about to remind you to keep an eye on Dave because, if I’m not mistaken, Dave is supposed to be drugged at the Dragon Palace Hotel’s restaurant private room while he’s there with his assistant discussing business with a dignitary from Japan."

Athena paused for a moment, then continued, "But I’m not certain when it’s supposed to happen. That’s all the information I can recall. Since he was with you, I figured it probably wouldn’t occur. Plus, we haven’t heard any discussions with other countries, so..."

Athena paused, her expression shifting as she recalled something even more significant about Dave and the drugging incident.

"Then Alice would happen to be on the venue as a guest in the restaurant’s general dining area and would meet Dave who was drugged in the bathroom like any other love story in a novel." Athena sniggered and then continued. "Then, she would bring him to one of the hotel rooms instead of the hospital to let him rest, but things take a spicy turn when Dave, still under the influence, pulls her back into bed and pins her down. As expected, the outcome is, well, obvious. When Dave finally wakes up, he’s left trying to make amends with a tearful Alice, who reveals it was her first time."

Unlike before, when she enjoyed revisiting these scenes merely as part of the story, now it felt more like a way to mock the original female lead, especially after discovering her true nature.
