Others may say that Hera is being vindictive, but she understands that she’s only left with two choices now: either to let this slide or retaliate. She has keenly observed how Alice subtly attacks her, aiming to portray her in a negative light. While these attacks may be subtle, their impact is not lesser.
The other participants have already begun treating her differently, choosing to find fault with her simply because she appears to be living a better life than them in the show and because of the subtle taunts staged against her.
Hera doesn’t want to blindly say that she understands them and just forgives them. Now that Alice has rallied everyone to isolate her and think badly of her, why can’t she do the same?
The only difference is that Hera’s planned stage for Alice was grander, and the repercussions would be more painful than what Alice had prepared for Hera.
Hera wasn’t sure why Alice would turn against her now, especially when she hadn’t done anything against them yet. It could be due to a lingering grudge from Hera’s refusal to comply with her demands, the embarrassment Alice faced yesterday, or perhaps other reasons altogether. Maybe it was because of Hera’s closeness to Xavier, or a combination of all factors.
She opted not to dwell on the reasons behind Alice’s behavior, preferring to focus her mental energy on delivering a lesson or two instead.
While Hera values kindness and respect towards others, she refuses to be a doormat for anyone, having learned this lesson through past experiences, particularly with Alexi.
This time, Bry guided Hera to a field nestled further from the ranch, yet closer to the serene river flowing down from the nearby mountains.
An elderly man in his 60s came forward to give Hera a hoe while his other hand was resting behind his back. "Child, I know working in the field is hard and I hope that you can hang on there for a bit." Then, with a defeated look, he sighed and continued. "You can just do what the previous girl did and just weed the side of the vegetables and rest when you are feeling tired. You can just treat this hoe as an accessory."
