Chapter 27 Being Kicked Out
After settling the bill, Rafael excused himself and departed without waiting for any of them. However, before stepping out, he couldn’t resist one last glance at Hera’s face. No matter how long he looked, it remained captivating, its beauty seemingly destined to leave a lasting impression on people’s hearts and minds. Truly, a visage fit for the silver screen.
This only fueled a competitive fire within him, driving him to secure Hera for his company and ensure that his sister ceased causing trouble. He saw her potential as a valuable asset, a lucrative investment that he couldn’t afford to lose to competitors.
The moment Rafael left the room, Hera and Athena exchanged another amused glance before bursting into laughter.
"Babe, did you see his face?" Athena managed to say between giggles.
"Of course, I did! Especially when you mentioned liking the leftovers. He must have thought you were a beggar or something," Hera replied, chuckling.
"What?!" Athena’s laughter halted abruptly as she realized she missed that part, blissfully unaware of Rafael’s misinterpretation.
"What? You didn’t see it? That’s why I clarified. I was saving you from potential embarrassment," Hera chuckled, seeing her best friend stunned into silence. She continued, "You probably thought you made him suffer a loss for tonight’s dinner, spending a few hundred thousand. But even if his wealth isn’t on par with the Averys’, that amount is just a drop in the bucket for someone like him." Hera explained.
Spending too much time outside of their family limited their understanding of the upper circle, leaving them unaware of how wealthy individuals are inclined to spend lavishly, even on seemingly trivial matters, to maintain their image.
Athena appeared to have suffered a blow. She realized that not only had she cost their enemy some money, but she had also made a fool of herself. A sudden realization struck her. ’He must have been disgusted by the sight of some poor lass like me, which is why he bolted so quickly?’
