Chapter 50 As Gloomy As The Moon
"Oh, my poor baby. You’ll be fine dear." Mrs Margaret said as she hugged Jasmine who smiled weakly against her mother’s shoulder.
Her eyes went up to see her father who was standing there with both hands in his pocket. He was staring right at Jasmine. Since she got married to Kingsley, this was the first time she would see a look of deep affection in her father’s eyes.
She thought he was mad at her that he won’t show up or concern himself with her. Shockingly, he came along with her mother.
Kingsley didn’t interrupt the conversation, he sat on a stool close to the wall, watching the scene unfold before him. Seeing the family sharing this type of moment, he appreciated their relationship—even if it didn’t include the dad. Mr Trevor wasn’t Kingsley’s favorite. Definitely not in his good book.
He watched how the mother and daughter communicated and he slightly envied Jasmine. A sad feeling enveloped him at the thought of his parents.
"I will be alright, Mom. This isn’t the first time operating on the tumor, so don’t worry." Jasmine assured her mother but it only made her burst into tears and a round of hugging and comforting resumed.
Kingsley grimaced. He found out Jasmine had operated on the Meningioma thrice before. This surgery will be fourth and he doesn’t feel good about her going through this pain repeatedly.
Kingsley made a mental note to discuss this with Doctor Williams.
Mr Trevor cleared his throat, looking at Jasmine—totally ignoring the presence of Kingsley, not that Kingsley wanted to discuss with Mr Trevor either. "I was planning to fly you out of the country to receive treatment at Doctor Park’s hospital."
Kingsley snapped his eyes towards Mr Trevor. His mood dampened even more as he tightened his face in irritation. Jasmine pulled away from her mother’s hug. She looked at Kingsley who was glaring before looking at her father. "Dad, I can’t. Doctor Williams is capable—"
"So is Doctor Park. He was your doctor until he left. We can fly you over to California to get your surgery done." Her father argued.
