Chapter 39 Just A Prey In His Eyes
Jasmine hastily turned around to face Jack, her heart racing in her rib cage but she tried to maintain a cold face so as not to look scared.
A grin was plastered on Jack’s face as he watched the woman trying to act tough. His eyes narrowed slightly but that look of amusement didn’t falter. His hands were tucked into his pants pocket. "Getting tough, huh?"
Jasmine glared at Jack in his all-self glory, her eyes almost killing him on the spot."Do not ever sneak up on me like that!!" She snarled, her fingers clutched her bag tightly.
Jack just kept staring at her, his face still covered with that smile. "Okay."
Jasmine eyed him warily, wondering what he was up to. His smile was creepy.
Jack took a step closer making Jasmine stagger backwards, taking double and triple steps back. "Wha-what...don’t come near." She tried to shoo him off in panic.
Jack stopped in his tracks, that smile on his face was completely gone as he leaned closer to her. His eyes were as cold as winter. "If you think you can walk away from this unscathed ,you’re gravely mistaken. You think I’m a mere pushover?? Think again." His eyes darted between Jasmine’s face as he gritted out. " I will claw my way back to the top, I will make sure you regret crossing me. Consider this a warning. This isn’t over." With that, he leaned back and straightened his back before smiling broadly at her again as if he never said those words.
Jasmine’s face was red as she watched him change expressions again as if he didn’t just threaten her. When she finally found her voice to retort, he was gone.
A sigh escaped Jasmine’s lips, she could tell Jack’s return wasn’t going to be an easy one. He has a target which he is set out for.
’I need to be careful.’ She reminded herself before turning around and prickly walked into the company.
In the lobby, she spotted Lorraine heading towards the elevator she was going to enter too.
