Chapter 29 Dread Of Losing Her
"Please, elaborate." Kingsley dragged out, a little too stunned by her statement. Sure, Grandpa Elm was also surprised too.
Jasmine cleared her throat before laughing it off. "Well,I was trying to pull a stunt on you two, I chose Kingsley of all men because I love him. I’ve loved him for a long time." She lied under one breath, her hand finding its way to Kingsley’s hands before interlocking them.
A big smile was plastered on her face as she held Kingsley’s hands in hers.
Kingsley forgot to blink for a moment as he just kept staring mindlessly at her. He wondered if that was the truth.
’She’s probably messing with Grandpa.’ He concluded in his head, not believing that statement from Jasmine.
Grandpa Elm shook his head before cutting his beef and saying to Jasmine. "You’re too much of a free bird." He commented.
Jasmine raised a brow before removing her hand from Kingsley’s. "I don’t know what to say." She said awkwardly before digging her fork into the fish on her plate.
Grandpa Elm swallowed the beef in his mouth, sipped from his wine, and allowed it to digest before saying. "You’re not like other family’s heiresses I’ve seen. You’re more warmer and nicer." His eyes shone and Jasmine stretched out a smile.
’And that was the reason I got killed by the man I loved.’ Jasmine thought but the smile on her face didn’t leave, masking the pain in her eyes.
"I’ll take that as a compliment then," Jasmine said and Grandpa Elm bubbled.
"Sure, it is a compliment." Just like that, silence reigned over as everyone ate in silence.
