Chapter 259 - It’s okay
Yunfeng heard it—the soft but hurried thudding of footsteps against the wooden floor, getting closer and closer.
Panic flared in his chest. ’ I can’t let him see me like this...’
He wiped his face with his sleeve and scrambled to get up, feeling along the cold bathroom walls for support. His limbs moved stiffly, disoriented, but he forced himself to stand. His foot slipped once, but he caught himself on the sink. Then, without thinking, he turned and felt around until he felt the glass doors of the shower. He rushed in and switched on the water in a hurry.
Ice cold water rushed out startling him a lot.
The icy water hit his back first, then rolled over his shoulders, soaking through his shirt, his pants, his bandages. The cold should have been shocking, but Yunfeng barely felt it. He tilted his head down, letting the water cascade over his face, hiding the tears that had yet to stop.
"Yunfeng?! Yunfeng!" Muchen’s panicked voice rang from the hallway, approaching quickly.
"I’m here," Yunfeng called out, voice strained but even.
The bathroom door had been left wide open.
Muchen walked straight in and froze at the sight before him.
"Oh—why are you taking a shower with your clothes on?" he asked, eyebrows furrowed in confusion. He didn’t wait for an answer. He stepped forward, soaked his sleeves, and gently began peeling the wet shirt off Yunfeng’s trembling form.
But when his eyes fell on the soaked-through bandages across Yunfeng’s shoulder, his expression changed.
