Chapter 159 - Changing history
Yunfeng’s vision was hazy as he slowly sat up, his head pounding. His limbs felt weak, but the first thing he noticed—the only thing that mattered—was Muchen.
Muchen sat there, his hands gripping the fabric of Yunfeng’s shirt, his whole body trembling. Tears streamed silently down his face, his lips parted in a breathless, disbelieving whisper.
"You’re alive..." Muchen’s voice cracked, his eyes wide and shining with fresh tears. "You’re alive..."
Before Yunfeng could react, Muchen lunged forward, wrapping his arms tightly around him. His grip was almost suffocating, his warm, desperate sobs muffled against Yunfeng’s shoulder.
Yunfeng blinked, trying to ground himself, trying to process everything. His hands hesitated for only a second before he clutched Muchen just as tightly, his fingers digging into his back. His heartbeat was steady, real. His warmth surrounded Yunfeng, proving—proving that they were still here. Together.
"Muchen..." His voice was hoarse, weak.
But Muchen only held him tighter, his shoulders trembling as fresh tears soaked Yunfeng’s shirt.
Yunfeng pulled back slightly, his fingers brushing against Muchen’s face. His eyes darted over his features—his red-rimmed eyes, his tear-streaked cheeks, the way his breath hitched unevenly. His face was flushed, his lips trembling.
Muchen was a mess. A beautiful, heartbreaking mess.
"Don’t cry," Yunfeng murmured gently. "I’m alive. I’m here." He reached up, his thumb brushing away the tears that trailed down Muchen’s cheeks.
But Muchen’s breath shuddered, and suddenly, the silent tears turned into full, uncontrollable sobs. His whole body shook violently as he clutched Yunfeng, burying his face in his shoulder again.
